To achieve Carrier Command to describe a person who has no idea what it returns, the easiest way is to present two main players: the archipelago of thirty islands which serves as the battlefield and "carrier", futuristic aircraft carrier housing the precious drones land, air and amphibians that are going to put on the face. The player's role is to take command of this gigantic carrier and dominate the archipelago by taking possession of each island, all of which are connected to each other. To do this, we must address the control station easily visible on the satellite view of the island which is accessed by zooming from the strategic map. Only remains to launch the assault, but there are two options available to you: choose a classic RTS gameplay, setting waypoints and targets, while enjoying an inset panel disseminating images captured by one of your vehicles, or actually take direct control of one of them and do battle yourself, or to board in the third person, of taking off until the last shot. It is then possible to switch from one to the other devices, to return control to the AI or use a radial menu to set his tactics on the fly. If you get down, simply take the controls of a drone.
Obviously, the amount of equipment available is not unlimited and we'll have to manage some resources. Captured each island must be assigned to a task, collecting minerals, manufacturing equipment, fortified base protecting your front lines etc.. Distribute properly the functions of course capital. Remember that another carrier is prowling and attempting to take control of your islands that are connected to the way of a diagram. If the enemy gets hold of a central node at which you made the mistake of placing two mines and a mill, they will find themselves disconnected from your network. They will remain your possession, but you will not longer have access. Each resource, whether raw or manufactured, has to be sent in deposits, a transport that takes place in real time over the lines connecting each of the islands conquered. It is therefore also not too centralized property if you do not want to be forced back across the entire map with its carrier if needed.
These are the foundations of this hybrid gameplay that has forgotten to be poor. For despite an apparent simplicity, there is something to scratch their head and fall into a spiral of time-like "go, one more island," Civilization syndrome, in another register. Especially as Carrier Command offers two game modes including Strategic mode where you can set various criteria varying difficulty. So easy to impose a challenge that will require days of work. Campaign mode on the contrary imposes initial conditions. Stranded on the planet, you and your crew will have to start from scratch. What you will be worth even a week of missions foot shaped FPS somewhat sketchy. Time for the player to get their hands on a carrier and begin his conquest of territory.
There is still a bit chilly to the idea of mixing genres. Yet, this remake of Carrier Command looks set to make us change our minds. This is an app that has all the trappings of a time-consuming to switch between two modes of play distinct but closely linked, the player playing three different scales, a global view to a closer approach on one island to finish the hands dirty at the controls of a machine of war. Bohemia is on track to pay homage to more than convincing the old Carrier Command.
